Bugfest

The bug fest was one of the most memorable experiences the school has ever taken part in. It was such a unique opportunity to experience first hand some of the insects and creatures that you are usually afraid of.

All the children and staff participated fully in their time with Nick and his insects and reptiles. The children absolutely loved it and for some it was the first time that they had come into contact with snakes and lizards.
See what the team and children of Loders School in Dorset thought about their visit…
He was a very calming teacher and told us interesting facts about the insects and how they feed and survived. His enthusiasm for this subject was like a wave and engulfed every single child in the room.

As the creatures had to stay in the school overnight due to our timetable, the children bought their parents in the following morning and told them all about them. They loved it so much even the smallest children remembered all the facts that they had been told. It was lovely to watch.
Nick was able to consult with the school regarding the best times for us and he was flexible with his timetable so that he could accommodate us. He fitted in with our school topic of the rainforest and took that on board throughout his talk. In his time with us he was able to see the whole school and he was not phased by a large class number. He was extremely good value for money and it would be an experience the school would love to have again in the future.

The children at Loders have not stopped talking about the experience of the bug man and keep asking when he can come back with all his creatures!

I asked my class if they could think of some things to say about the Bug man and the experience they had…

 He was nice and I liked his bugs! – Fynley
 He was kind and very generous to show us his bugs and reptiles – Imogen
 It was just amazing! – Cora
 It was excellent – Amber
 I thought he was very funny! – Jasper
 It was nice as we could hold the bugs – Owen
 I want him to come hack again next year – Amelia
 Just the best fun we have had for ages in school – Katie

Thank you so much for your lovely talk and inspiration to the children. We will definitely meet again in the future!
